Venn Diagrams
My God, this business is never straight forward!The publishers were going to recommend me for a mentoring scheme. However, I have now found it is open to only those residing in Wales. Thus, if I was a Bolivian living in Lledrod writing about Bhutanese flowers, I could get a grant. However, a Welsh born and bred, writing a historical novel based in Wales involving Welsh History and Welsh culture is barred for the Cardinal sin of living in England... It's all good fun!
I have a few plan B's, the publishers have not written me off yet and I am looking at alternatives for mentoring. Dad has done an awful lot of foot work on this and I have him to thank for keeping the torch alight.
I have been working on the sequel, reached Chapter 9, keeping the idea fresh in my mind. I have found new paths to tread, discovered new characters and situations that may help in revamping book 1. I have not touched Book 1, as I don't want to start off on the wrong path. It's a bit unsettling all this, but at least I have something to start on, better than being back at the start of the first novel once again, trying desperately to work out the hook!
I still have desires to continue, the problem is my mind conjures up little cameos which identify with situations in future novels. The number of scraps of paper with these snippets grows daily. I also realize that progression to the next phase will allow me to justify a model railway and mastery of Microsoft Train Simulator! Anyway, that's one for the future.
Anyway, perhaps it is all for a good reason, next year's Chinese year is more favorable for Tigers.
