New Year
Gosh, a month without a log. What is happening?Well, work trundles on, i have a new customer. one who has been messed around in the past. Need to win their trust. Need to get the work running as it should.
Evelin progresses. she's learning the flute, wish it was the piano. gareth is sitting up now, for a while. Then he keels over like a brick. Just as well we invested in foam mats for the floor. He's got such a great smile. He's away from his Eddie Waring phase of communication and more into Fonz.
Aile is well, but needs new challenges.
The writing? Well,
Book 1 - I have produced a 1 page synopsis and sent it with 1,000 words to a competition run by the Daily telegraph. I am going to read it out loud to myself. The final and very ruthless edit.
Book 2 - waits for a review as above
Book 3 - I have reached Chapter 14. Just got past the sad bit, it's funny - if you think too much of the story you adopt the mood of it. Better hurry up to the brighter bit then...
N Wales tale - also packed off as a 1 page synopsis and 1,000 words to the comp. Funnily enough, I've only written 1414 words but it was a good opportunity to put down what I wanted to do.
I also am thinking of entering a competition needing a maritime narrative. I have adapted a chapter to be used in book 3. It's not sailing ships, but it does take place at the harbour and in a boat!
So busy and inbetween I am still building the model railway and honestly trying to do chores.
New Year, new energy. let' hope it lasts.
My greatest boost was I was invited to leicester Writers Club last week by my author friemd Rod Duncan. The people were really friendly and very dynamic towards the questions of producing work. Good constructive criticism. i actually took the N Wales story and shaking, I delivered it over a microphone. As the story moved on, I warmed up and got into the highs and lows of the short tale. Some people said it was good. Some very good sugegstions about how to develope it. My abiding memory was the first comment was a wonderful lady who said 'I absolutely loved it!'
I hope to visit once a month, it was so inspiring.
One problem with New Year, in Chinese terms it's supposed to be good for me. But it's year of the Boar. Hope I don't go that far!
